Why my Husband is the Best Dad in the World

This will be my husband’s second Father’s Day as last Father’s Day our little boy was just 3 days old! We didn’t get to do much last Father’s day because I had just gotten out of the hospital the day before. We had family here, and things were a bit crazy with a new baby. This year is going to be just as crazy. I scheduled this post to post, but as you are reading this we are on a 12 hour drive up to West Virgina to see family. I know writing a blog post isn’t much, but I wanted the world to know what an awesome dad my husband is.

I had a very rough birth when our son, Adam was first born. So rough that I was on bed rest for several weeks afterward and was not even allowed to pick up my baby, he had to be brought to me. I was not able to get in and out of bed without help, or up and down the stairs. The only thing I was able to do was hold the baby and feed him when he was brought to me. (If you want to read more about what happened at Adam’s birth and afterward, read here: Adam’s Birth Story, Recovering From Birth, And the Recovery Goes On, & Health Update.) Because of that, my husband had to do everything. Yes, we had family there, my mother was here one week, and his mother stayed a month, until I was back on my feet, but still they showed him what to do and he did it.

During that time, he held Adam, changed his diapers, and got up with him during the night. On top of that, he was taking care of me, and everything I was going through. Helping me shower, get down the stairs, and everything else. He took me to all my doctor’s appointments, and took Adam to his as well. I look back and wonder how he stayed so calm through it all, I know at the time I was falling apart, but he was my rock. I don’t know many other daddies who would do such a wonderful job in a situation like that, but I am very thankful, and I know Adam will be thankful for a such a wonderful daddy as well.

Adam is a year old now, and I have watched my husband be a father to him over this past year. I have known I was blessed to have a man who was such a wonderful father, and here are just a few of the reasons why:

1. He actually will help change diapers.
2. He’s not afraid to tell our son “I love you”
3. He showers our son with kisses and hugs.
4. He plays with our son every day.
5. He always makes time for him.
6. He’s not embarrassed to sing to him.
7. He reads him stories.
8. He watches him for me so I can get stuff done.
9. He makes him laugh better than anyone else.
10. He prays for him.

To the best and most wonderful husband and father in the world, Happy Father’s Day, I love you and Adam does too!

  3. Your husband is awesome! My husband had to help out a lot when our son was born too. I can always admire a man that will step up and do what he has to do to support his family. By the way, I love the military uniform onesie! Have a great trip!
