My Goals for 2012
Note: I may earn money or products from the companies, products, or links mentioned in this post.
I feel I really worked on all of those things. I have lost almost 20 lbs and I am still working on getting in shape. I think that I have learned some new things about being a better housewife, and it’s definitely something I worked harder on this past year. As far as being a godly mom and setting a good example I think I have tried to do that, but it’s something I know I need to continue working on. Our finances are definitely better. We are hoping to pay off all our credit cards very soon! And last but not least, I worked on my relationship with God. I learned a lot this year and it’s something I am always going to continue to work on.
This year my goals are a little different. I only have three.
I really think if I get this down it will help me in every aspect of my life. If I am organized I can be a better wife, mother, friend, and person. I want to better organize my time and my house. I have loved scheduling and keeping Adam organized, now I need to do it for myself and for my entire family. I really pray that God can keep me on track with this goal, and help me as I strive to become more organized every day.
Through counseling I have already learned more about myself and about God. Through church and friends I have learned more about God as well. You might think it’s different to want to learn more about my husband – I mean I AM already married to him! But do you remember this quote from the movie Fireproof?
“When a man is trying to win the heart of a woman, he studies her. He learns her likes, dislikes, habits and hobbies. But after he wins her heart and marries her, he often stops learning about her. If the amount he studied her before marriage was equal to a high school degree, he should continue to learn about her until he gains a college degree, a master’s degree and ultimately a doctorate degree. It is a lifelong journey that draws his heart ever closer to hers.”
I know it’s talking about the husband, but I really believe the same applies to a wife. We should continually be getting to know our husbands. And that is what I want to work on this year. As far as getting to know my son, that means really spending time together, playing together, and watching him. Adam may have some problems as far as sensory development and feeding, but he is a smart little boy, and getting to know what he likes and dislikes and why, will help with his getting better.
Sure I put this or something similar to this as one of my goals every year. But instead of just losing weight this year, I want to work on being fit and being healthy. I want to exercise on a regular basis (getting organized and having a schedule will help with that), I want to eat healthier, and I want to not only lose some more weight, I want to stay fit and in shape. A lot of this will be learning more about healthy foods, and incorporating it into our budget and weekly grocery list. Also, I want to help our family to eat healthier. I don’t think I need to make drastic changes, but slowly incorporate better eating habits and exercise. It’s going to be fun!
What about YOU? What are your goals for this year?
I love your goal about getting to know your family members better! I really should be trying to know my husband better (and my daughter too) instead of having a pity party sometimes about how he doesn’t know me the way I want him to! đ
Ah yes we all do it though. I have just learned to realize that if I want anything to change that I am going to have to be the person to make those changes first. Thanks for commenting! đ
That’s a great quote from Fireproof. So true, not just for husbands, but as you said, for wives too!
Yes, I love that movie. I must’ve seen it at least 10 times! đ Thanks for commenting!
sound like great goals!!!
I need to work on #3/add it to my list. eating right and excercise is not something I tend to focus on because I have a very tiny build and CANT put on weight no matter how much i eat! that causes me to be lazy and eat bad stuff because I cant see what it’s doing to my body! I will be looking forward to your posts abou health this year, I really need help in that area!!! đ
love the fireproof quote and the ambition to get to know your family more! I think that can be a goal for all of us for the rest of our lives!! <3
Yes, I am lazy about it too. Sometimes it’s so much easier just to sit down with your comfort food and eat to your heart’s content. I just started a class tonight at church – a Bible Study on a book called “Made to Crave” and it’s about learning to crave God instead of mainly food, but other cravings too such as internet, or attention or money. It was only the first night, but so much of it really fit me. About the eating and weight perspective of it all and tying it in spiritually. You should definitely get the book! đ Anyways thanks for the comment!
Some great goal choices here. The most important factor I think is that they’re achievable. Most people’s new years resolutions fail because they get a bit too aspirational. Thanks from Singing In The Rain Tickets London for this post.
Very true. I think if people are going to set goals that they definitely should be something that they know they can accomplish or that they have really set their minds to accomplish. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
Great goals! My number one goal is to add an NJLG filter to my lips (NJLG: No judgment, love and grace). I have always been one to say exactly what’s on my mind without much of a filter and I need to work on that. I’ve got 6 or 7 other goals but this is my number one.
Oh my goodness I love it! Did you make up the NJLG thing? Just love it! Thanks for commenting!
Thanks, Kathryn. I just hope I can be consistent with it. I turn alot of things into acronyms so I can remember them (LOL).
