Good Night Gorilla Giveaway

Note: I may earn money or products from the companies, products, or links mentioned in this post.

I don’t know about your kids, but my son just loves to have me read books to him! He will go get a book and come to me and shove it in my hand as if to say, “Read to me!” And I love it. You can tell which ones are his favorites by the condition they are in, and the two that are in the worst condition are Goodnight Moon and Good Night, Gorilla.

Good Night, Gorilla is one of the sweetest kid’s books I have ever seen. The pages are very colorful and vibrant and and the words are simple and easy to read. The story setting is at the zoo. The zoo keeper is putting the animals to bed and saying good night to each, one by one. What he doesn’t know is that a mischievous little gorilla has taken his keys and let himself out of his cage. What follows is a hilarious little escapade by the gorilla and all the zoo animals!

One thing that is different about this  book, is that some of the pages actually don’t have any words to read on them. The pictures are supposed to be story enough on the pages without words. At first, I wasn’t sure what to do. I wanted to keep my son’s attention, but it’s hard if the book doesn’t have words on all the pages. After thinking about it, I decided to make up words on the pages that didn’t have any. My son loved it, and didn’t even know the difference! It was more fun for me too. Just a little imagination goes a long way!

  1. Our son’s favorite book right now is Clifford Takes a Bath. He has the entire thing memorized and has to read it every night before bedtime. The cutest thing is there’s a part where Clifford is floating on a bar of soap then falls into the bath tub. It reads “Puppy overboard!” in the book. My son always says “Mommy, that’s not a board! That’s silly!”

Fortunately, only one book has gone to pieces right now, but my little man, like Adam, will bring me books, sit in my lap and just look at the pictures while I read. I think this book would make a great addition to his little collection.

p.s. Story time (just before bedtime) is his and my favorite time of the day!
