I Can

I was in the shower this morning and I kept thinking about my husband’s deployment that is right around the corner. I was trying to pray, but I kept telling myself I can’t do this. I was thinking I don’t want to do this deployment, I don’t want hm to leave. I can’t, I can’t, I can’t. Then a thought occurred to me: Jesus turns all my “can’ts” into “I can’s.”

What a powerful statement, one that I know was not from myself, but from God and one that He knew I needed this morning. Whether you are going through a deployment or something else right now, I hope this encourages you. Today is a new day and you CAN do this!

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” -Philippians 4:13

  1. Thank you for your wonderful post! I love reading your blog; your posts often are just what I need to read to remind me of how to endure a certain trial that I’m dealing with at the time.

  2. You can do it! You are stronger then you know! And when you feel as though you won’t make it through the day, come on Facebook and tell us! We will spend as much time as you need lifting you up and encouraging you… Showering you with love!

      1. I’m doing pretty ok today. This is one of those weeks were I need to take things day by day, but you know how that is. I figure, I was given one more day to enjoy life, I better take advantage of it!

  3. Kathryn,
I can’t imagine being in your shoes and am always amazed and in awe of military wives! I will be praying for you! Your family, btw, looks so precious. Y’all are just beautiful!!!

    1. haha thanks. I honestly don’t feel that great. It’s very hard, but when you love a man in the military it’s definitely worth it! 🙂 Thanks for the prayers, and the sweet comment. God Bless!

  4. Thank you for this encouragement, Kathryn. I ran across your blog through Pinterest and took up to reading much of it during my coffee and prayer time. My hubby leaves for his first deployment to Afghanistan in 33 days and I have been having those same “I can’t” feelings for this last week. I appreciate the reminder that YES, I can, through Christ. As the cursor blinks at me, I’m looking up at my iPad and see in bold red, I Can. I think Inwill write that on PostIt notes throughout my house! Haha I look forward to checking back regularly and Inthank you for speaking into my life this morning, from wherever you are! Isn’t god awesome to send angels to us from afar?? 😉

    1. Hi Lori,
So glad you stopped by and commented! 🙂 So sorry you are at this point, it’s not fun, but I can also say that you can do it, because I did! My husband came home in May after almost 7 months of our first deployment, and I look back and think, “Wow, I can’t believe I did this.” It really was through the grace of God. Glad this was helpful to you, please let me know if there is anything I can do for you during this time!
