Motherhood: It’s Not For the Faint of Heart!

See this little cutie?
Well, he is not as innocent as he looks!
Yesterday we had quite a day. My story begins with jewelry. Ever since I was pregnant with Adam I have not been able to wear my wedding rings. It’s been almost a year now and they are still too small. I am still holding on to the hope that I will lose some weight and they will magically fit again so I won’t have to get them re-sized.
A few weeks ago, Jon bought me a beautiful gold chain so I could put my wedding rings on them and wear them. I was so happy to be able to wear them again even though if it was not on my finger. We also decided it would be part my anniversary gift since it was coming up soon and the chain was expensive.
So yesterday I was holding Adam, and he was upset because he was hungry. I got up to go make him a bottle, and he grabbed ahold of my chain and yanked it and it broke. My rings went flying and I just stood there not even believing that is just happened, listening to Adam still cry in the background. I quickly put him down found my rings, and went to get his bottle. Later, I had to text Jon and tell him the the chain he had given me was broken.
But that was not the end of my day, that was only the beginning! Several hours later I am sitting on the couch feeding Adam. When he was finished we just sat there together, and I was on my computer too. He was really quiet just sitting there with me and I was enjoying the cuddles. When I finally decided to get up, I started to pick Adam up, and got something on my arm. I was a bit horrified by what I saw…
Not only did he have it all over himself, but he got it all over me as well.
I had to think fast because in all his kicking and moving around, he was slowly getting this stuff everywhere! I grabbed a receiving blanket and wrapped him in it so it wouldn’t get any where else, and ran up stairs to the his room and put him on the changing table.
By this time, he has gotten it everywhere, yes even on his face. Ugh. In the meantime I am standing there trying to figure out what to do. Adam has it everywhere and meanwhile I am still standing there with it all over my pants as well. My husband was working at the time and I had no one to help me. I tore off my pants and rolled it into a ball, and worked on taking care of Adam. Took care of his clothes and promptly got myself and him into the tub. Sadly, he hates baths so he screamed the entire time.
I wrapped him up in his towel and put him in the crib and quickly re-diapered him and dried him off. Then I quickly took care of myself and got some new clothes. I wrapped up all his dirty laundry, changed the changing table fabric, and finally changed Adam into some clean pajamas for the night. I brushed his hair, and gave him a hug enjoying both of us smelling clean again, when promptly Adam threw up all over me and himself. I am not kidding. At this point I just wanted to sit down and cry. Let me just tell you, motherhood is not for the faint of heart.
Wow! Sounds like an eventful day!
Ahh man! Baby Adam wants to make sure your days are filled with busy-ness, doesn't he? Kind of reminds me of Meaty – she will be laying with me and all of a sudden, the sparkle of my necklace will catch her eye and she will try and bite on to the necklace!
lol, been there~ What a funny post!
I feel ya. Try having two to have blowouts at the same time. *smile*
Noooooooooooooooooooo!! Awwww, I'm so sorry this happened to you–twice nonetheless! I also love how innocent he looks in the picture at the top. He's all, "What? Me?" So cute!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by on my SITS day and for your encouraging comments! Hope you are enjoying your weekend! Best wishes always,
Charlotte :o)
yikes!!!
*taking my birth control pill now*
jk jk.
Blogs like yours are good to read because I'm all "I wanna have a babyyyyy" and you're all "Well this is what it's like, be prepared!" LOL 😀 Thanks for being so honest, friend.
Ok, don't be upset, but I laughed at this post. I have been there so many times both with Monkey and now with Monster. Just yesterday I was running late to get Monkey from school and was a little to slow with getting Monsters new diaper on. It happens to the best of us, and I will forewarn you, will probably happen again (not to sound like a downer or anything.) I hope that today is going better for you! 🙂
Oh my goodness! What a day! Yikes! Diaper blow-outs are the worst. Were you able to get it out of your clothes? With the twins we watch, we (or their mom) have never been able to get it out of their clothes! They end up in the garbage. 🙁
I'm so sorry about your necklace! I'd be devastated, too.
And I definitely would have cried when he threw up after everything else that happened that day!
What's funny is that just before reading this I had a massive explosive diaper on my hands that I had to deal with. All I keep saying is that being a momma is a messy job, but I love it!
But at least, thanks to blogging, you have people you can share this with who will love and support you and don't have to smell you after these things happen. 🙂
Sorry about the chain though, clothes can be washed but the jewelry thing stinks.
I hope Adam is feeling better.
You poor little mama! I have been through that kind of a day too, and I probably did shed a few tears by the end of it. I remember being on the brink of crying during a diaper change at the end of a long day- between diapers, I just wasn't fast enough and Ethan urinated on me, his own face, and on the new energy-saver special fabric blinds we just installed. Yuck. You are right, my dear, motherhood is NOT for the faint of heart! God bless you!
I tagged you for a meme! If you're interested. 😀
*hug* I am so sorry you had a rotten day. LB and I both had a stomach virus a couple weeks ago. I really hope you're little one gets better soon so you can relax.
If you just bought the necklace, you can likely return it for a new one. You might want to look into that if you haven't already.
I'm sorry for the messy day. 🙁 It's a hard job, but the perks are great! I'll take a baby cuddle anyday. Wishing you a cleaner, less icky day tomorrow.

Sorry about your bling. The Mrs. has gotten to where she just stores all of her nice stuff–maybe she can wear it again in a few years.
Oh my word! Ha…I didn't see that coming. I'm definitely feeling the baby fever right now, but this just reminded me that I need to go take my birth control 🙂 I can imagine a lot of happy and frustrating tears come from being a mother.
In the past month, Jonathan's broken 4 necklaces of mine!! Thankfully none of the expensive ones and I think most can be fixed, if I can be bothered *sigh*
And oh the poo-splosions… our first was on his aunty, not us 😀 But he got us each plenty of times.
Oh the joys of motherhood! It's good thing God makes 'em cute, hey?!
EPIC poo-splosion. If they weren't so darn cute, it might be harder to take! (I'm a new follower *wave*)
You poor thing! Trial by fire this day, eh? I've had those moments… actually, I think we'd be hard pressed to find a mother who hasn't. So HUGS to you and I hope the rest of your week went better.
As a recommendation to help with the necklace, get a box chain necklace. Each of the links is actually a little box. My dear Hubbie got me one too for an anniversary and he specified to get a box chain necklace because all my other ones were breaking and I love quite a few lovely necklace. This chain has survived all the yanking and pulling of FOUR children now and still going strong. I never take it off. Love my man!
Take care!
Dee
I soooo remember those days! Hang in there 🙂
