I’m so excited to share with you today a review of an e-book that my dear friend and blogger Paula Rollo wrote!
Many of you know that I recently had a baby. My little girl is two months old now and for the past two months my son has seemed to do well adjusting to being a big sibling. Recently, though he has seemed to have a hard time adjusting. It’s like he now realizes that his baby sister is here to stay. She’s not leaving anytime soon and boy does she take up a lot of mommy’s time!
When I saw what Paula’s book: When Baby Becomes Big Sibling was about I was excited. Even though it’s been two months since my son has become a big sibling, I was hoping there would be a few tips for us to help him adjust. I was not disappointed!
My Review of When Baby Becomes Big Sibling:
Paula’s book is broken up into three different sections: Preparing You, Preparing Your Toddler, and Transitioning With Your Toddler. Each section if full of tips, encouragement, ideas and more for you to help yourself and your toddler through pregnancy all the way to bringing baby home.
I loved that it felt like she was right there giving me advice like a sister or a friend would do. I also loved her sense of humor and encouragement throughout the book. I love how it’s coming from a been-there-done-that kind of mommy. It makes it feel more real.
Some of my favorite parts of the book were:
- Getting through a rough pregnancy with a little one.
- The worries a new mom of two might have.
- The suggestions for preparing your big sibling.
- Learning to stay consistent even after baby is born.
- Tips for redirection.
I loved some the suggestions she made like practicing holding and being “gentle” with a baby doll for practice and several book suggestions that you can read to your big sibling. We did these things with my son and they truly helped him understand a little more about what was going to happen when the new baby came home.
I highly recommend this book for any mom about to have their second, third, or even fourth baby! The suggestions in here are very helpful, and the encouragement is something you cannot do without!
Several quotes from the book:
- “Chaos is not a sign of failure, it’s a sign of children, just roll with it and try to find the laughter in the midst of the turmoil.”
- “Two different children, two different experiences, but one love that we share.”
