What’s your favorite book to read to your kids? Is it something sweet and loving or something cute and funny?God Gave Us Christmas

One of the top classic kid’s books and a personal favorite of mine is, God Gave Us You. It’s a story that helps answer the question, “Where did I come from?” I recently discovered that there is another book in this series, a Christmas book called, God Gave Us Christmas.

I was thrilled to learn about this book because I have been trying to teach my 5 year old son with autism the meaning of Christmas. We’ve talked about the Christmas story, we’ve talked about why we celebrate and give gifts, but I’m not sure how much he really understands.

I was given the opportunity to review God Gave Us Christmas with a twist. This book is from one of the top personalized book companies called, “Put Me in the Story.” “Put Me in the Story” literally puts your child in the book. Your child will be one of the cubs in the book, and his or her picture that you upload will be on the first and last page. We were able to add a special note on the inside cover as well. My son loved that he was a part of the story and that his picture appeared in the book.

God Gave Us Christmas

God Gave Us Christmas Book Review:

God Gave Us Christmas is one of the sweetest books I’ve ever read! It’s about a journey that mama bear and little bear take to find God. In the quest to find God, mama bear also teaches little bear about Christmas and how it came to be.

The bears see the northern lights and mama tells little bear how this is God and His handiwork. They see many more things on their journey and she explains how each thing represents God and how He is everywhere with us. Each thing that they see helps mama bear explain about God and how He brought us Christmas.

The book continues with more explanation of God and Christmas and towards the end little bear asks if Jesus came for the mean and grumpy people too. Mama bear’s reply is perfect, “Jesus is a present for everyone, grumpy or happy, mean or kind. God gave us all Christmas.”

I just loved the way that this book not only explains how God is everywhere and always with us, but also how Christmas came to be. It is brought down to a child’s level and helped my son understand better than anyway I could have explained or taught him. This book is special and will be one we read at Christmas time each year.

What are your favorite kid’s books? Do you have a special book you read at Christmastime each year?

Regardless, it is still the sweetest book, and I love how it tells the Christmas story. 🙂
