Miracle DIY Facial Mask

I don’t usually write about beauty tips, but this is something so simple, so easy, and so fun, that I just had to share! I found the idea through Pinterest and had saved it to my Beauty Tips & Products board. The best thing about this DIY facial mask? It’s all-natural! Yup, that’s right you can make it with ingredients found in your very kitchen!

DIY Facial Mask

Ingredients You Need:

  • 2 tbls of honey
  • 1 tsp of cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg

How to Make:

  • Mix the ingredients together (I warmed the honey a little in the microwave first, but make sure it’s not too hot or you will burn your face).
  • It should look and feel like a thick, dark paste. It’s very messy so when applying to your face, make sure you are over a sink in case some drips off.
  • Be careful not to get it in your eyes. Let it sit for about 30 minutes, but have a towel ready in case it drips a little.
  • When your 30 minutes are up, wash the mask off with warm water. You can use a washcloth or just your hands, and you can gently scrub it off in a circular motion so that you exfoliate as well.

See? Simple and very easy! And now you are probably wondering what it does for your face. Here is what the article said:

“This DIY facial mask, made of nutmeg, honey, and cinnamon, is calming and soothing for stressed-out skin – in addition, it smells absolutely amazing!

The secret? Nutmeg and honey act as natural anti-inflammatories, which can reduce swelling and redness in skin. They’re also great for soothing acne scars and preventing infection. In addition, the nutmeg and cinnamon also work to exfoliate your skin when you wash this mask off.”

I promise you, it really does work wonders. I have used it about 3 times now and love it!

When I was visiting my in-law’s over Christmas I introduced this mask to my 15 year-old sister-in-law. She was so excited to try it! Here we are trying it out:

By the end of the night, we weren’t the only ones who wanted to try it….

We convinced my other sister-in-law AND my mother-in-law to try it. It was a lot of fun!

Is this something you would try? Have you ever made a homemade beauty mask like this? I can’t wait to hear!

  1. I love home made skin care- Myra and I are doing this one tonight! 😀
Other ones that I have used include: Egg White (for firming and tightening- beat lightly, left on until dried and washed off); Yogurt (plain, exfoliating and moisturizing- left on until it thickens well, then washed off); whole milk/ cream/ or a mix (moisturizing- rubbed into skin, left until dried and washed). I know I’ve done a few others, but can’t think of them at the time.

    1. I have heard of the egg one! I need to try it because I hear it works good. Sounds like you have tried a lot of different ones – how fun!

        1. YAY!! That’s awesome! 🙂 SO funny though… my sister-in-law was doing that too! I was like you’re not supposed to eat it off your face!! LOL
