I decided today to do something fun! I have been wanting to post a writing prompt for awhile now and I am interested to see what other people would write! I added what I wrote for the prompt below and if you decide to do it, you can leave a comment with your story.
Below are 3 sets of words. Use all the words in each set to write mini stories in 300 words or less.
Set 1# paper clips, principal, lunchbox, swing, girl with a pink ribbon
Set 2# biology, class card, foreign student, leaf, blood sample
Set 3# typewrite, filing cabinet, puncher, clerk, carbon paper, janitor
I choose to do Set 1# and I bolded all the words that I was supposed to use. Mine was 337 words.
The principal sighed as she sat down at her desk. What a long day, and it was still morning! She took out a box of paper clips from her drawer and set to using them on a stack of papers on her right. She looked at the first piece of paper. It had the name Jane Moore written in stubbly cursive handwriting. She set it down again. She was having a hard time concentrating.
She pushed back her chair back and walked over to the window. It was a beautiful sunny day, but the sunshine did not mirror the feelings in her heart. She continued watching out the window as a group of fourth graders ran outside to the playground. She wondered if the girl whose name she has just read on the paper a few minutes ago was with this group. Then she spotted her, the girl with the pink ribbon tied in her pretty blonde hair. Jane went and sat on the swing by herself and started pushing her legs back and forth. Slowly, gently the swing started to pick up speed.
She looks happy… the principal thought.
She turned back toward her desk once more. She hated having to give bad news, she hated it almost as much as receiving it. Jane Moore was not a bad child, but there was something wrong with her, and it was the principal’s job do be the bearer of bad news, it always was. She sat down at the desk and looked at the clock. It was about lunchtime now and she knew the children would be gathering their lunch boxes, and getting ready to eat.
Just then someone knocked on her office door startling her.
“Come in.” She replied, now facing toward the door.
The secretary pushed open the door . “Principal Moore, your husband is on the phone for you.”
Principal Moore sighed, “Thank you, Janet.” She picked up her phone and took a deep breath, how she hated being the bearer of bad news!
So I thought I would write a little about what had been going on around here. Wednesday was my husband’s birthday! He had to work, but we went out for lunch and it was a great day for him! I love him so much and I always tease him about being 7 months younger than me. I was 22 seven months longer then he was! lol
I have been babysitting almost constantly I have at least 5-8 different babysitting jobs a week, so it has been a little crazy. Tomorrow I am having a grand opening avon party, I am hoping more people show up then who say are coming, but we shall see. Today I am preparing for the party doing some baking and cleaning. And tonight my sisters-in-law are coming over to spend a few days with us, and come to my party, and celebrate Jon’s birthday! Which reminds me I need to bake a cake too! Almost forgot!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
