April is the month of the military child and in preparation for April I wanted to write a bit about just a few of the ways that military kids are awesome! If you have a military kid then you probably already know the many reasons why they are awesome, but for those who want to know more about why military kids are so awesome keep on reading!

Military Kids are Awesome Because…

1. They are Resilient.
Resilience is defined in two ways: “Able to become strong, healthy, or successful again after something bad happens” and “Able to return to an original shape after being pulled, stretched, pressed, bent, etc.” I like both of these definitions because both define how military kids deal with military life each and every day.

Military kids become strong through deployment, frequent moves, and all kinds of other things that the military lifestyle brings. They learn to make new friends at each new duty station and learn how to cope with and make the best of each and every deployment. These kids are bent, pulled, and stretched, but still they stand tall and proud.

2. They are Independent.
Military kids are often very independent. They learn that it’s okay that daddy is away sometimes and that even thought they miss him, they can still learn and grow and be incredible kids. It’s amazing how independent kids can be when they have the chance, especially military kids!

3. They are Adaptable.
Adaptable is being “able to adjust to new conditions” and that is certainly one thing military kids are good at! They learn to go with the flow through each change, especially all the moving around. My son has done a lot better than I thought he would with our most recent PCS. He is 4 and I think he is already becoming adaptable to the changes around him. It’s a part of growing up and a part of a military kid’s lifestyle and I am once again amazed at how wonderful these kids are!

4. They are Patriotic.
Military kids learn from a young age how to be patriotic. They know the star-spangled banner, they love the American flag, they know what it means to love their country and wave the American flag. I love seeing kids who understand how to be respectful to the flag and those that defend it. Military kids are apart of the few that still understand patriotism.

Because military kids are so awesome because of the reasons above and because of a million other reasons, Procter & Gamble (P&G) is celebrating the Month of the Military Child by raising awareness for healthy and active military kids!

P&G is partnering with military commissaries to help bring ProCamps to a military base near you! ProCamps support a healthy lifestyle and helps service members, their families and DoD civilians make healthier choices and work on nutrition and fitness. ProCamps are a great way for military kids to meet new friends, learn about healthy, active lifestyles, and provides an incredible opportunity to play football with an NFL player.

So how can you help support and sponsor an amazing military kid this year? Help bring a ProCamp to your base by going to the commissary March 19-April 8 and buy select P&G brands like Tide, Bounty, Charmin, Pantene, Crest, and Gillette. Make a military kid happy – make a dream come true!
